Bollywood simply refers to Hindi film industry and Hindi movies. It was named Bollywood as the centre was located in Mumbai, originally known as Bombay.
Movies have contributed a lot to the government, in the way of taxes and to increase the tourist attraction to a particular area. The government of India also benefits from the illegal download of movies and so they choose to ignore the piracy part of it.
