Ask the right person

You want to know your standard of teaching,
Ask a last bencher.
You want to know your standard of knowledge,
Ask a layman.
You want to know what it is to scream at the top of your voice,
Ask the dumb.
You want to know what it is to be free,
Ask the people of the seventeenth century.
You want to know what it means to live,
Ask a cancer patient.
You want to know what it is to hold your partner's hand,
Ask a widow.
You want to know your standard of living,
Ask your maid.
You want to know what it is to be rich,
Ask the people sleeping on roads.
You want to know what it is to be seeing the world with your own eyes,
Ask the ones wearing lenses.
You want to know what it is to be sitting in a class,
Ask the child working in a shop.
You want to know what it is to be lying on your mother's lap,
Ask an abandoned child.
You want to know what it is to bear the heat,
Ask a statue.
You want to know what it is to be like others,
Ask yourselves.
